Psalms 17
1(Tefillah of Dovid) 1 attend unto my cry, 1 give ear unto my tefillah, that goeth not out of lips of mirmah (deceit). 1
2Let my mishpat (right) come forth from Thy presence; 1 let Thine eyes behold the things that are right. 1
3Thou hast probed mine lev; 1 Thou hast visited me in the lailah; 1 Thou hast tested me and shalt find nothing; 1 I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. 1
4Concerning the works of men, 1 by the Devar of Thy lips 1 I have kept myself from the paths of the cruel. 1
5Uphold my goings in Thy paths, 1 that my footsteps stumble not. 1
6I have called upon Thee, for Thou wilt hear me, O El; 1 incline Thine ear unto me, and hear my prayer. 1
7Show Thy marvellous chesed, 1 O Thou Moshi'a Who saves by Thy right hand 1 them which put their trust in Thee from those that rise up against them. 1
8Be shomer over me as the apple of Thy eye; 1 hide me in the shadow of Thy wings, 1
9From the resha'im that oppress me, 1 from my deadly enemies threatening my nefesh, who surround me. 1
10They have closed up callously and mercilessly against me; 1 with their mouth they speak with ge'ut (pride). 1
11At every step they have surrounded me; 1 their purpose is to strike down to ha'aretz; 1
12Like aryeh eager to tear his prey, 1 and like a young lion lurking in ambush. 1
13Arise, Hashem, confront him, cast him down; 1 deliver my nefesh from the resha with Thy cherev; 1
14From men with Thy yad, Hashem, 1 from men of the world, whose portion is in this life, 1 and with Thy treasures Thou fillest their belly; 1 they are satisfied with children, 1 and leave their abundance to their babes. 1
15As for me, in tzedek I will behold Thy face; 1 I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy temunah (form). + 17:15 See Num 12:8
