Psalms 116
1I love Hashem, because He hath heard 1 my kol (voice), even my techinnah. 1
2Because He hath inclined His ozen (ear) unto me, 1 therefore will I call upon Him while I have days. 1
3Chevlei mavet (pangs of death) encompassed me, 1 and the metzarei She'ol (confines, straitnesses of She'ol) have caught up with me and found me; 1 tzoros and yagon (sorrow) I found. 1
4Then called I b'Shem Hashem: 1 O Hashem, save my nefesh! 1
5Channun (gracious) is Hashem, and tzaddik; 1 yes, Eloheinu is merciful. 1
6Hashem is shomer over the petayim (simple-hearted, helpless); 1 I was in need and li yehoshia (me He saved). 1
7Return, my nefesh, to thy menuchah (rest, resting place); 1 for Hashem hath dealt bountifully with thee. 1
8For Thou hast saved my nefesh from mavet (death), 1 mine eye from dimah (tears), 1 and mine regel (foot) from stumbling. 1
9I will walk before Hashem 1 in the Artzot HaChayim (the Land of the Living). + 116:9 T.N. Note that I can do that because Moshiach was cut off from there in my place and for my sins — Isa 53:8 1
10He'emaneti (I believed); 1 therefore have I spoken; I was greatly afflicted. 1
11I said in my chafaz (haste, alarm, consternation), 1 Kol HaAdam Kozev (all men are liars). 1
12How shall I repay Hashem 1 for all His benefits to me? 1
13I will raise the Kos Yeshu'ot (the Cup of Salvation), 1 and call upon Hashem b'Shem (by Name). 1
14I will fulfill my nederim (vows) unto Hashem now 1 in the presence of all His people. 1
15Precious in the eyes of Hashem 1 is the mavet of His Chasidim. 1
16O Hashem, truly I am Thy eved; 1 I am Thy eved, ben amatecha (the son of Thy maid servant); 1 Thou hast removed my chains. 1
17I will sacrifice to Thee the zevach todah (the thanksgiving offering) 1 and will call on the Shem Hashem. 1
18I will fulfill my nederim to Hashem now 1 in the presence of all His people. 1
19In the khatzerot Beis Hashem, 1 in the midst of thee, O Yerushalayim. 1 Praise ye Hashem.
