Psalms 120

(Shir HaMa'alot — Song of Ascents) 1 and He heard me. 1

Save my nefesh, Hashem, from sefat sheker (lying lips), 1 and from lashon remiyyah (a tongue of deceit). 1

What shall be given unto thee? 1 Or what shall be done unto thee, thou lashon remiyyah? 1

Sharp khitzim (arrows) of the gibbor, 1 with burning (charcoal) coals of the broom plant. 1

Woe is me, that I sojourn in Meshech, 1 that I dwell in the ohalim of Kedar! 1

My nefesh hath long dwelt 1 with him that hateth shalom. 1

I am for shalom; 1 but when I speak, they are for milchamah (war).
