Psalms 69

(For the one directing. Al Shoshanim. Of Dovid) 1

Hoshi'eini, O Elohim; 1 for the mayim are come unto my nefesh. + 69:2 i.e., neck 1

I sink in deep mire, 1 where there is no standing; 1 I am come into the depths of the mayim, 1 where the floods overflow me. 1

I am weary of my crying out; 1 my garon (throat) is dry; 1 mine eyes fail while I wait for Elohai. 1

They that have sinas chinom (baseless hatred) toward me 1 are more than the hairs of mine rosh; 1 they that would destroy me, 1 being mine oyevim (enemies) sheker (baselessly) are mighty; 1 then I restored that which I did not steal. 1

O Elohim, Thou knowest my folly; 1 and my ashmot (guiltinesses) are not hid from Thee. 1

Let not them that wait on Thee, 1 Adonoi Hashem Tzva'os, be ashamed because of me; 1 let not those that seek Thee be disgraced because of me, 1 O Elohei Yisroel. 1

Because for Thy sake I have borne cherpah; 1 shame hath covered my face. 1

I am become a stranger unto my achim, 1 and a nochri (foreigner) unto the bnei immi (sons of my mother). 1

For kinas Beitcha (zeal for Thy House) hath consumed me; 1 and the cherpot of them that scorned Thee are fallen upon me. + 69:10 Yn 2:17 1

When I wept, and chastened my nefesh in the tzom (fast), 1 that became my cherpot (reproaches). 1

I made sackcloth also my garment; 1 and I became a mashal (byword) to them. 1

They that sit + 69:13 as judges in the sha'ar (gate) speak against me; 1 and I was the neginot (drinking songs) of the drunkards. 1

But as for me, may my tefillah be unto Thee, Hashem, 1 in an et ratzon (acceptable time, time of favor); 1 O Elohim, in the multitude of Thy chesed hear me, 1 in the emes of Thy salvation. 1

Save me out of the teet (mire, clay, soil) 1 and let me not sink; 1 let me be saved from them that hate me, 1 and out of the depths of the mayim. 1

Let not the floodwaters overflow me, 1 neither let the deep swallow me up, 1 and let not the be'er (pit) shut her mouth upon me. 1

Hear me, Hashem, for Thy chesed is tov; 1 turn unto me according to the multitude of Thy rachamim; 1

And hide not Thy face from Thy eved; 1 for I am in tzoros. Hear me speedily. 1

Draw near unto my nefesh, and make the go'el redemption of it; 1 deliver me because of mine oyevim (enemies). 1

Thou hast known the cherpah (scorn) I bear, and my shame, and my dishonor; 1 mine adversaries are all before Thee. 1

Reproach hath broken my lev; and I have sickness as unto death; 1 and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; 1 and for menachamim (comforters), but I found none. 1

They gave me also gall in my food; 1 and in my tzamah (thirst) they gave me chometz (vinegar) to drink. + 69:22 See Mt 27:34,48 ; Mk 15:23,36; Lk 23:36; Yn 19:28-30 1

Let their shulchan become a pach (snare, trap) before them; 1 and that which should have been for their shlomim (peacefulnesses), let it become a mokesh (trap). 1

Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; 1 and make their loins shake tamid. 1

Pour out Thine indignation upon them, 1 and let Thy charon af (burning wrath) overtake them. 1

Let their habitation be desolate; 1 and let none dwell in their ohalim. + 69:26 See Ac 1:20 1

For they persecute him whom Thou hast struck; 1 and they tell of the makh'ov (pain, grief) of those whom Thou hast wounded. 1

Add avon (iniquity) unto their avon; 1 and let them not come into Thy tzedakah. 1

Let them be blotted out of the Sefer Chayyim, 1 and not be recorded with the tzaddikim. 1

But I am ani (poor) and in pain; 1 let Thy Yeshu'ah (salvation), O Elohim, set me up on high. 1

I will praise Shem Elohim b'shir (in song), 1 and will magnify Him with todah (thanksgiving). 1

This also shall please Hashem better than shor (ox) 1 or bull that hath keren (horn) and parsah (hoof). 1

Those that have anavah (meekness, humility) shall see this, and have simchah; 1 and your + 69:33 pl. lev shall live that seek Elohim. 1

For Hashem heareth the evyonim (needy ones, poor), 1 and despiseth not His prisoners. 1

Let the Shomayim va'Aretz praise Him, 1 the seas, and every thing that moveth therein. 1

For Elohim yoshi'a (will save) Tziyon, 1 and will build the cities of Yehudah; 1 that they may dwell there, and have it in possession. 1

The zera also of His avadim shall inherit it; 1 and they that love Shmo shall dwell therein.
