Psalms 38
1(Mizmor Dovid. For the memorial portion of the mincha) 1
2Hashem, rebuke me not in Thy wrath; 1 neither chasten me in Thy hot displeasure. 1
3For Thine khitzim (arrows) pierce me, 1 and Thy Yad presseth upon me. 1
4There is no health in my basar 1 because of Thine anger; 1 neither is there any shalom in my atzmot 1 because of my chattat. 1
5For mine avonot (iniquities) are gone over mine head; 1 as a weighty massa (burden) they are too heavy for me. 1
6My chaburot (wounds) are foul and festering 1 because of my wicked folly. 1
7I am bent down; 1 I am brought low ad me'od; I go about mourning all day long. 1
8For my loins are filled with burning; 1 and there is no health in my basar. 1
9I am feeble and broken ad me'od; 1 I have groaned by reason of the disquietness of my lev. 1
10Adonoi, all my ta'avah (desire, longing) is before Thee; 1 and my groaning is not hid from Thee. 1
11My lev panteth, 1 my ko'ach faileth me; 1 as for the ohr of mine eyes, 1 it also is gone from me. 1
12My loved ones and my re'a 1 stand aloof from my nega; + 38:12 See Isa 53:8 on Moshiachʼs nega 1 and my neighbors stand afar off. 1
13They also that seek after my nefesh lay snares for me; 1 and they that seek my hurt speak of ruin, 1 and plot mirmot (deceptions, deceits) all the day long. 1
14But I, like a cheresh (deaf man), heard not; 1 and I was like a mute that openeth not his mouth. 1
15Thus I was like an ish that heareth not, 1 and in whose mouth are no tokhachot (reproofs). 1
16For I wait for Thee, Hashem; 1 Thou wilt hear, Adonoi Elohai. 1
17For I said, 1 Hear me, lest otherwise they should gloat over me; 1 when my regel slippeth, 1 they magnify themselves against me. 1
18For I am ready to fall, 1 and my sorrow is before me tamid. 1
19For I will declare mine avon; 1 I will be in anguish over my chattat. 1
20But mine oveyim are chayyim (vigorous), and they are strong; 1 and they that hate me sheker (wrongfully) are multiplied. 1
21They also that repay ra'ah for tovah are mine adversaries; 1 because I pursue the thing that is tov. 1
22Forsake me not, Hashem Elohai; 1 be not far from me. 1
23Make haste to help me, 1 Adonoi Teshuati (L-rd of my salvation).
