Psalms 119

Ashrei are the blameless ones in the derech, 1 who walk in the torat Hashem. 1

Ashrei are they that keep His edot (testimonies), 1 and that seek Him with kol lev. 1

They also do no iniquity; 1 they walk in His drakhim. 1

Thou hast commanded us to be diligently shomer 1 over Thy pikkudim (precepts). 1

O that my drakhim were directed 1 to be shomer over Thy chukkim (statutes)! 1

Then shall I not be ashamed, 1 when I have respect unto all Thy mitzvot. 1

I will praise Thee with yosher levav (uprightness of heart) 1 when I shall have learned Thy righteous mishpatim (ordinances). 1

I will keep Thy chukkim; 1 O forsake me not utterly. ב BEIS 1

How shall a na'ar cleanse his way? 1 By being shomer thereto according to Thy Davar (Word). 1

With my kol lev have I sought Thee; 1 O let me not wander from Thy mitzvot. 1

Thy word have I hid in my lev, 1 lema'an (so that) I might not sin against Thee. 1

Baruch atah, Adonoi ( Hashem); 1 teach me Thy chukkim. 1

With my sfatayim (lips) have I declared 1 all the mishpatim of Thy mouth. 1

I have rejoiced in the derech of Thy edot (testimonies), 1 as much as in all riches. 1

I will meditate in Thy pikkudim, 1 and consider Thy orkhot (paths). 1

I will delight myself in Thy chukkim; 1 I will not forget Thy Davar. ג GIMEL 1

Deal bountifully with Thy eved, that I may live, 1 and be shomer over Thy Davar. 1

Open Thou mine eyes, 1 that I may behold nifla'ot out of Thy torah. 1

I am a ger on ha'aretz; 1 hide not Thy mitzvot from me. 1

My nefesh is shattered with ta'avah 1 for Thy mishpatim at all times. 1

Thou hast rebuked the zedim (arrogant ones) that are arurim (cursed ones), 1 which do wander from Thy mitzvot. 1

Remove from me cherpah (reproach) and contempt; 1 for I have kept Thy edot (testimonies). 1

Though sarim (princes) also sit and speak slander against me, 1 yet Thy eved meditates on Thy chukkim. 1

Thy edot (testimonies) also are my delight 1 and anshei atzati (my counsellors). ד DALET 1

My nefesh has deveykus unto the aphar; 1 revive Thou me according to Thy Davar. 1

I have recounted my drakhim, and Thou heardest me; 1 teach me Thy chukkim. 1

Make me to understand the derech of Thy pikkudim; 1 so shall I meditate on Thy nifla'ot. 1

My nefesh drops with heavy sorrow; 1 strengthen Thou me according unto Thy Davar. 1

Remove from me the derech sheker; 1 and graciously grant me Thy torah. 1

I have chosen the derech emunah; 1 thy mishpatim have I accounted worthy. 1

I have deveykus with Thy edot (testimonies); 1 Hashem, let me not be ashamed. 1

I will run the derech of Thy mitzvot, 1 for Thou shalt set my lev free. ה HEH 1

Teach me, Hashem, the derech of Thy chukkim; 1 and I shall keep it unto the end. 1

Give me understanding, and I shall keep Thy torah; 1 yes, I shall be shomer over it with my kol lev. 1

Make me to go in the path of Thy mitzvot; 1 for therein do I delight. 1

Incline my lev unto Thy edot, 1 and not to betza (covetousness, selfish gain). 1

Turn away mine eyes from beholding shav (vanity); 1 and revive Thou me in Thy derech. 1

Establish Thy word unto Thy eved, 1 which is for the fear of Thee. 1

Turn away my cherpah (reproach) which I fear; 1 for Thy mishpatim are tovim. 1

Hinei, I have longed after Thy precepts; 1 revive me in Thy tzedakah. ו VAV 1

Let Thy chasadim come also unto me, Hashem, 1 even Thy Teshu'ah (salvation), according to Thy word. 1

So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me; 1 for I trust in Thy Davar. 1

And take not the devar emes 1 utterly out of my mouth; 1 for I have hoped in Thy mishpatim. 1

So shall I be shomer over Thy torah 1 tamid l'olam va'ed. 1

And I will walk freely in a wide place; 1 for I seek Thy pikkudim. 1

I will speak of Thy edot (testimonies) also before melachim, 1 and will not be ashamed. 1

And I will delight myself in Thy mitzvot, 1 which I love. 1

My palms also will I lift up unto Thy mitzvot, 1 which I love; 1 and I will meditate on Thy chukkim. ז ZAYIN 1

Remember the davar to Thy eved, 1 on which Thou hast made me hope. 1

This is my comfort in my oni (affliction); 1 for Thy word hath revived me. 1

The zedim (arrogant ones) have had me greatly in derision; 1 yet have I not turned aside from Thy torah. 1

I remembered Thy mishpatim from of old, Hashem; 1 and have comforted myself. 1

Zalafah (indignation) hath taken hold upon me 1 because of the resha'im that forsake Thy torah. 1

Thy chukkim have been my zemirot (songs) 1 in the bais of my pilgrimage. 1

I have remembered Thy Shem, Hashem, in the lailah, 1 and have been shomer over Thy torah. 1

Zot hayetah li, 1 because I kept Thy pikkudim. ח CHET 1

Thou art my chelek, Hashem; 1 I have said I would be shomer over Thy words. 1

I sought Thy Face with my kol lev; 1 be gracious unto me according to Thy word. 1

I thought on my drakhim, 1 and turned my feet unto Thy edot (testimonies). 1

I made haste, 1 and delayed not to be shomer over Thy mitzvot. 1

The ropes of the resha'im have bound me; 1 but I have not forgotten Thy torah. 1

At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto Thee 1 because of Thy righteous mishpatim. 1

I am a chaver of all them that fear Thee, 1 and of them that are shomer over Thy pikkudim. 1

Ha'aretz, Hashem, is full of Thy chesed; 1 teach me Thy chukkim. ט TET 1

Thou hast dealt well with Thy eved, Hashem, 1 according unto Thy word. 1

Teach me good judgment and da'as; 1 for I have believed in Thy mitzvot. 1

Before I was afflicted I went astray; 1 but now have I been shomer over Thy word. 1

Thou art tov, and doest tov; 1 teach me Thy chukkim. 1

The zedim (arrogant ones) have forged a sheker against me; 1 but I will keep Thy pikkudim with my kol lev. 1

Their lev is callous like chelev; 1 I delight in Thy torah. 1

It is tov for me that I have been afflicted 1 l'ma'an (in order that) I might learn Thy chukkim. 1

The torah of Thy mouth is better unto me 1 than thousands of zahav and kesef. י YOD 1

Thy hands have made me and established me: 1 give me understanding, that I may learn Thy mitzvot. 1

They that fear Thee will be glad when they see me; 1 for I have hoped in Thy Davar. 1

I know, Hashem, Thy mishpatim are tzedek, 1 and Thou in emunah (faithfulness) hast afflicted me. 1

Let now Thy chesed be for my comfort, 1 according to Thy word unto Thy eved. 1

Let Thy rachamim come unto me, that I may live: 1 for Thy torah is my delight. 1

Let the zedim (arrogant ones) be ashamed; 1 for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: 1 but I will meditate on Thy pikkudim (percepts). 1

Let those that fear Thee turn unto me, 1 and those that have known Thy edot. 1

Let my lev be tamim (blameless, complete) in Thy chukkim; 1 that I be not ashamed. כ Kaf 1

My nefesh fainteth for Thy salvation: 1 but I hope in Thy davar. 1

Mine eyes fail for Thy word saying, 1 Mosai (when) wilt Thou comfort me? 1

For I am become like a wineskin in the smoke; 1 yet do I not forget Thy chukkim. 1

How many are the days of Thy eved? 1 Mosai (when) wilt Thou execute mishpat on them that persecute me? 1

The zedim (arrogant ones) have dug pits for me, 1 which are not in accordance with Thy torah. 1

All Thy mitzvot are faithful: 1 they persecute me wrongfully; help Thou me. 1

They had almost consumed me ba'aretz; 1 but I forsook not Thy pikkudim. 1

Revive me after Thy chesed; 1 so shall I be shomer over the edut of Thy mouth. ל Lamed 1

Forever, Hashem, Thy Davar is settled 1 and stands firm in Shomayim. 1

Thy emunah (faithfulness) is to all generations: 1 Thou hast established eretz, and it stands enduring. 1

They continue enduring to this day according to Thine mishpatim: 1 for all things are Thy avadim. 1

Unless Thy torah had been my delight, 1 I should then have perished in mine oni. 1

I will never forget Thy pikkudim: 1 for with them Thou hast revived me. 1

I am Thine, save me: 1 for I have sought out Thy pikkudim. 1

The resha'im have waited for me to destroy me: 1 but I will think on Thy edot. 1

I have seen an end of all perfection: 1 but Thy mitzvah is boundless. מ Mem 1

O how I love Thy torah! 1 It is my meditation kol hayom. 1

Thou through Thy mitzvot hast made me wiser than mine enemies: 1 for they are ever with me. 1

I have more understanding than every melamed of mine: 1 for Thy edot are my meditation. 1

I understand more than the zekenim, 1 for I keep Thy pikkudim. 1

I have refrained my feet from every orakh rah, 1 in order that I might be shomer over Thy Devar. 1

I have not departed from Thy mishpatim: 1 for Thou hast taught me. 1

How sweet are Thy words unto my palate! 1 Sweeter than devash to my mouth! 1

Through Thy pikkudim I get understanding: 1 therefore I hate every orakh sheker. נ Nun 1

Thy word is a ner unto my feet, 1 ohr unto my path. 1

I have sworn a shevuah, and I will perform it, 1 that I will keep Thy righteous mishpatim. 1

I am afflicted very much: 1 revive me, Hashem, according unto Thy word. 1

Accept the nidvot of my mouth, O Hashem, 1 and teach me Thy mishpatim. 1

My nefesh is continually in my yad: 1 yet do I not forget Thy torah. 1

The resha'im have laid a pach for me: 1 yet I erred not from Thy pikkudim. 1

Thy edot have I taken as a heritage forever: 1 for they are the sasson lev of me. 1

I have inclined mine lev to perform Thy chukkim forever, 1 even unto the end. ס Samech 1

I hate the double-minded: 1 but Thy torah do I love. 1

Thou art my seter (hiding place) and my mogen: 1 I hope in Thy Devar. 1

Depart from me, ye evildoers: 1 for I will keep the mitzvot of Elohai. 1

Uphold me according unto Thy imrah, that I may live: 1 and let me not be ashamed from my hope. 1

Hold Thou me up, and I shall be safe: 1 and I will have respect unto Thy chukkim continually. 1

Thou hast rejected all them that err from Thy chukkim: 1 for their deceitfulness is sheker (falsehood). 1

Thou puttest away all resha'im of eretz like dross; 1 therefore I love Thy edot. 1

My basar trembleth for fear of Thee; 1 and I am afraid of Thy mishpatim. ע AYIN 1

I have done mishpat and tzedek; 1 leave me not to mine oppressors. 1

Be surety for Thy eved for good; 1 let not the zedim (arrogant ones) oppress me. 1

Mine eyes fail for Thy Yeshu'ah (salvation), 1 and for the word of Thy tzedakah. 1

Deal with Thy eved according unto Thy chesed, 1 and teach me Thy chukkim. 1

I am Thy eved; 1 give me understanding, that I may know Thy edot (testimonies). 1

It is time for Thee, Hashem, to work; 1 for they have made void Thy torah. 1

Therefore I love Thy mitzvot above zahav; 1 yes, above fine gold. 1

Therefore I esteem right all Thy pikkudim concerning all things; 1 and I hate every orakh sheker. פ PEH 1

Thy edot (testimonies) are wonderful; 1 therefore doth my nefesh keep them. 1

The petach (entrance, doorway) of Thy words giveth light; 1 it giveth understanding unto the simple. 1

I opened my mouth, and panted; 1 for I longed for Thy mitzvot. 1

Look Thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, 1 as Thy manner is unto those that love Shimcha. 1

Order my footsteps in Thy imrah; 1 and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. 1

Redeem me from the oppression of adam; 1 so will I keep Thy pikkudim. 1

Make Thy face to shine upon Thy eved; 1 and teach me Thy chukkim. 1

Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, 1 for they are not shomer over Thy torah. צ TZADDI 1

Righteous art Thou, Hashem, 1 and yashar are Thy mishpatim. 1

Thy edot (testimonies) that Thou hast commanded are tzedek 1 and emunah me'od (very faithful). 1

My zeal hath consumed me, 1 because mine enemies have forgotten Thy devarim. 1

Thy word is very tested; 1 therefore Thy eved loveth it. 1

I am small and despised; 1 yet do not I forget Thy pikkudim. 1

Thy tzedakah is tzedek l'olam, 1 and Thy torah emes. 1

Tzoros and anguish have taken hold on me; 1 yet Thy mitzvot are my delight. 1

The tzedek of Thy edot is l'olam; 1 give me understanding, and I shall live. ק KOPH 1

I cried unto Thee; 1 save me, and I shall be shomer over Thy edot (testimonies). 1

I rose before the dawn, and cried out for help; 1 I hoped in Thy Davar. 1

Mine eyes are awake through the ashmurot (night watches), 1 that I might meditate on Thy word. 1

Hear my voice according unto Thy chesed; 1 Hashem, revive me according to Thy mishpat. 1

They draw near that follow after wicked schemes; 1 they are far from Thy torah. 1
